(John 21:25 AMPC) And there are also many other things which Jesus did. If they should be all recorded one by one [in detail], I suppose that even the world itself could not contain (have room for) the books that would be written.
There were innumerable healings and miracles performed by Jesus, but we do not have record of them all. We do have record of 19 of them and because the Holy Spirit instructed those men to record them for us, we should take the time to study them.
In studying these healings, we can learn that if we will do what the people did, we can receive what the people got.
For this reason, we are looking at the details of each case.
Remember, pay attention to the details. Sometimes the key for you to be able to receive from Heaven is in the details.
In studying these healing miracles, we can learn how to receive healing for ourselves and learn how to minister healing to others.
This is a summary of the ministry of Jesus: He went about teaching, preaching, and healing.
(Matthew 4:23 NKJV) And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people.
(Matthew 9:35 NKJV) Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
Preaching is a proclaiming of the Good News and is designed to draw the attention of people. Teaching brings people into knowledge and revelation of what belongs to us as believers.
- We need to hear proper teaching on healing so that we can cooperate with the healing power of God.
- What you hear, is going to be what you have faith to receive.
- Jesus wants you to have a life of health and healing and to walk in that, you must know something and be skilled in it.
- As you hear these things being taught, you can receive your healing!
(Mark 5:22-34 AMPC) (22) Then one of the rulers of the synagogue came up, Jairus by name; and seeing Him, he prostrated himself at His feet (23) And begged Him earnestly, saying, My little daughter is at the point of death. Come and lay Your hands on her, so that she may be healed and live. (24) And Jesus went with him; and a great crowd kept following Him and pressed Him from all sides [so as almost to suffocate Him]. (25) And there was a woman who had had a flow of blood for twelve years, (26) And who had endured much suffering under [the hands of] many physicians and had spent all that she had, and was no better but instead grew worse. (27) She had heard the reports concerning Jesus, and she came up behind Him in the throng and touched His garment, (28) For she kept saying, If I only touch His garments, I shall be restored to health. (29) And immediately her flow of blood was dried up at the source, and [suddenly] she felt in her body that she was healed of her [distressing] ailment. (30) And Jesus, recognizing in Himself that the power proceeding from Him had gone forth, turned around immediately in the crowd and said, Who touched My clothes? (31) And the disciples kept saying to Him, You see the crowd pressing hard around You from all sides, and You ask, Who touched Me? (32) Still He kept looking around to see her who had done it. (33) But the woman, knowing what had been done for her, though alarmed and frightened and trembling, fell down before Him and told Him the whole truth. (34) And He said to her, Daughter, your faith (your trust and confidence in Me, springing from faith in God) has restored you to health. Go in (into) peace and be continually healed and freed from your [distressing bodily] disease.
(Mark 5:25 AMPC) And there was a woman who had had a flow of blood for twelve years,
This is a miracle within a miracle.
Under Jewish Law, anyone with her condition, was not allowed to be out in public. Jairus was one of the ones that could have sentenced her to death for being out in public. Understanding this, you can see why she would be nervous about giving her testimony in front of Jairus.
She is putting herself at risk to receive her healing.
(Mark 5:26 AMPC) And who had endured much suffering under [the hands of] many physicians and had spent all that she had, and was no better but instead grew worse.
Although she had this condition for twelve years, she kept seeking help.
She refused to get used to being sick. She was constantly pushing against this condition. She refused to accept it. It is easier to accept it than to push against it.
No matter how long you have had your condition, take a stand against it with the Word of God and faith.
She had been to many physicians, and this implied that at one time, she had much money. At some point, she had run out of money. So, if you think about it, it had taken her twelve years to run through her money and she had not gotten any better.
SICKNESS IS A THIEF! It had taken everything from her.
It had taken her time, money, relationships, and perhaps her occupation.
Going to the doctor was not the problem. It was that they could not give her any relief.
(Mark 5:27 AMPC) She had heard the reports concerning Jesus, and she came up behind Him in the throng and touched His garment,
She had heard the reports of Jesus being a healer and she chose to believe what she had heard. It matters what you hear, and it matters what you choose to believe about what you hear.
Someone had told her about their miracle. It matters that you share what Jesus has done for you. You never know who might be listening that needs or will need something from Jesus.
She was quick to believe. We need to be that way when it comes to the Word. (Not gullible)
She could have had a cynical approach to coming to Jesus because of her history in not being able to get help.
Don’t let your history turn you into a doubter. Don’t let past failures tell you that you can’t have victory today.
When she heard, she acted and sought Him out.
A large portion of what you receive from God is initiated by you and not by God.
Even in her weakened condition, faith got out of the house. She went totally against what she felt.
Faith will not just lay down and take what is going on, it will push against the current circumstances.
To receive from God, you will probably have to do something that is not convenient.
WHAT SHE BELIEVED WAS GREATER THAN WHAT SHE FELT!
Your miracle will begin when you choose to believe and act on what you believe.
Natural things this woman did:
- She got out of bed.
- She got dressed.
- She left the house.
- She finds Jesus.
Believing something will cause you to do what others won’t do.
Some commentaries say that there were thousands of people that had gathered around Jesus. Yet despite this, she pressed her way to Him.
Oral Roberts said, “Everyday miracles are coming to you or passing by you.” Everyday God’s power is available to us!
The woman must have heard something about Jesus’ garment.
(Matthew 14:34-36 AMPC) And when they had crossed over to the other side, they went ashore at Gennesaret. (35) And when the men of that place recognized Him, they sent around into all the surrounding country and brought to Him all who were sick (36) And begged Him to let them merely touch the fringe of His garment; and as many as touched it were perfectly restored. [Mat 9:20]
(Malachi 4:2 NKJV) But to you who fear My name The Sun of Righteousness shall arise With healing in His wings; And you shall go out And grow fat like stall-fed calves.
Wing – (Hebrew: kānāp̱): A common noun for a wing, the skirt or corner of a garment. It has the basic sense of to cover, an attached extremity.
(Acts 19:11-12 AMPC) And God did unusual and extraordinary miracles by the hands of Paul, (12) So that handkerchiefs or towels or aprons which had touched his skin were carried away and put upon the sick, and their diseases left them and the evil spirits came out of them.
God so wants people healed, that He will allow cloths to contain the anointing and heal people.
Now, it takes more than just the healing anointing. It takes faith joined with that anointing to accomplish what the anointing is designed to do.
(Mark 5:28 AMPC) For she kept saying, If I only touch His garments, I shall be restored to health.
Notice she KEPT saying. She did not just say it once. She repeated it as the circumstances kept fighting her.
Who was she talking to? She spoke to herself and her circumstances. What you say to yourself is more important that what you say in public.
What did she say? She said what she believed.
Faith says what will happen before you see it happen.
Faith comes by hearing, but it is not released by hearing. Faith is released by saying and acting on what you believe.
(Mark 5:27-28 AMPC) She had heard the reports concerning Jesus, and she came up behind Him in the throng and touched His garment, (28) For (Because) she kept saying, If I only touch His garments, I shall be restored to health.
(Mark 5:29 AMPC) And immediately her flow of blood was dried up at the source, and [suddenly] she felt in her body that she was healed of her [distressing] ailment.
Notice the woman believed, she said what she believed, and she acted on what she believed BEFORE she felt something. It does not happen the other way around.
Sometimes the power of God is tangible as in this case but sometimes it is not tangible. So, what are you going to believe about the power of God? We don’t believe because we felt something. We believe something because the Word says it is working. You may FEEL your symptoms and not feel the healing power of God but what are you going to believe?
Example: If you go to the dentist and they take X-rays of your mouth. They lay that lead filled apron on your body and then they leave the room to take the x-ray. You hear something but you don’t feel anything, but why did they leave the room? Because power was present even though you did not feel it.
The power of God is present everywhere and all the time, but you must believe that it is there and give it faith and action in order to release what God wants that power to accomplish.
(Mark 5:30-31 AMPC) And Jesus, recognizing in Himself that the power proceeding from Him had gone forth, turned around immediately in the crowd and said, Who touched My clothes? (31) And the disciples kept saying to Him, You see the crowd pressing hard around You from all sides, and You ask, Who touched Me?
The disciples thought that Jesus had asked an inappropriate question because the power was not felt or seen. But, to the one that released her faith, she experienced the results of that power being released.
People can be all around the power of God, but if they have not released their faith, they will never be able to receive the results.
IT WAS NOT TOUCHING JESUS THAT GOT THIS WOMAN HEALED. IT WAS RELEASING HER FAITH WHEN SHE TOUCHED HIM THAT GOT HER HEALED.
(Mark 5:32-34 AMPC) Still He kept looking around to see her who had done it.
If you protect your peace, you can maintain your healing. Stay in peace and out of fear and worry.
