(John 21:25 NKJV) And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen.
There were innumerable healings and miracles performed by Jesus but we do not have record of them all. We do have record of 19 of them and because the Holy Spirit instructed those men to record them for us, we should take the time to study them.
In studying these healings, we can learn that if we will do what the people did, we can receive what the people got.
For this reason, we are looking at the details of each case.
Remember, pay attention to the details. Sometimes the key for you to be able to receive from Heaven is in the details.
In studying these healing miracles, we can learn how to receive healing for ourselves and learn how to minister healing to others.
This is a summary of the ministry of Jesus: He went about teaching, preaching, and healing.
(Matthew 4:23 NKJV) And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people.
(Matthew 9:35 NKJV) Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
Preaching is a proclaiming of the Good News and is designed to draw the attention of people. Teaching brings people into knowledge and revelation of what belongs to us as believers.
- We need to hear proper teaching on healing so that we can cooperate with the healing power of God.
- What you hear, is going to be what you have faith to receive.
- Jesus wants you to have a life of health and healing and to walk in that, you must know something and be skilled in it.
- As you hear these things being taught, you can receive your healing!
(Mark 5:21-24 AMPC) And when Jesus had recrossed in the boat to the other side, a great throng gathered about Him, and He was at the lakeshore. (22) Then one of the rulers of the synagogue came up, Jairus by name; and seeing Him, he prostrated himself at His feet (23) And begged Him earnestly, saying, My little daughter is at the point of death. Come and lay Your hands on her, so that she may be healed and live. (24) And Jesus went with him; and a great crowd kept following Him and pressed Him from all sides [so as almost to suffocate Him].
(Mark 5:35-43 AMPC) While He was still speaking, there came some from the ruler’s house, who said [to Jairus], Your daughter has died. Why bother and distress the Teacher any further? (36) Overhearing but ignoring what they said, Jesus said to the ruler of the synagogue, Do not be seized with alarm and struck with fear; only keep on believing. (37) And He permitted no one to accompany Him except Peter and James and John the brother of James. (38) When they arrived at the house of the ruler of the synagogue, He looked [carefully and with understanding] at [the] tumult and the people weeping and wailing loudly. (39) And when He had gone in, He said to them, Why do you make an uproar and weep? The little girl is not dead but is sleeping. (40) And they laughed and jeered at Him. But He put them all out, and, taking the child’s father and mother and those who were with Him, He went in where the little girl was lying. (41) Gripping her [firmly] by the hand, He said to her, Talitha cumi–which translated is, Little girl, I say to you, arise [from the sleep of death]! (42) And instantly the girl got up and started walking around–for she was twelve years old. And they were utterly astonished and overcome with amazement. (43) And He strictly commanded and warned them that no one should know this, and He [expressly] told them to give her [something] to eat.
(Mark 5:22 AMPC) Then one of the rulers of the synagogue came up, Jairus by name; and seeing Him, he prostrated himself at His feet
Jesus was greatly opposed by the religious leaders of the day. Jairus must have been prominent there in his community because he is mentioned by name.
IN FULL PUBLIC VIEW, HE WORSHIPPED JESUS! This was huge because many could have seen him including the other religious leaders. But Jairus obviously did not care what the others were going to think about him. He puts his leadership and influence at risk.
Jairus was willing to lay down his career for his family to receive what they needed from God. This was a life-long occupation; not a temporary, part-time job.
Again, this is a posture of submission to Jesus and a posture to receive from Jesus!
A worshipper is usually teachable and submissive and willing to be led.
When you need a miracle, things that are less important will begin to take that position. He placed his family above his position and his prominence.
As the head of his family, it was his responsibility to lead them into a place of faith. Being the head of the household, you do whatever it takes to provide the best for your family and household.
(Mark 5:23 AMPC) And begged Him earnestly, saying, My little daughter is at the point of death. Come and lay Your hands on her, so that she may be healed and live.
Jairus describes what it is that he is facing. This is not a lack of faith. This is ok, but always follow it up with what you believe.
It is not doubt and unbelief to state your need. It IS doubt and unbelief to stay focused on that need and not what you believe.
Jairus is saying what he believes and not what he sees. You have to say what it is you believe before you see it with your eyes. To keep emphasizing what you see will only prolong what you see or make it worse.
(Romans 10:10 NKJV) For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (manifestation)
Faith must be in two places: your heart and your mouth. (Mark 11:23)
Where the other religious leaders had rejected Jesus’ teaching, Jairus had grabbed onto it and was holding on to it.
(Mark 5:24 AMPC) And Jesus went with him; and a great crowd kept following Him and pressed Him from all sides [so as almost to suffocate Him].
Right believing and right speaking brought Jesus on the scene. He went with Jairus.
Jesus always responds to faith!!
(Mark 5:35 AMPC) While He was still speaking, there came some from the ruler’s house, who said [to Jairus], Your daughter has died. Why bother and distress the Teacher any further?
In the delivery of this bad news, the religious people felt like Jesus was no longer needed.
Faith is never panicked or rushed.
Jesus is not anxious or in a hurry. (He stopped to minister to the woman that was healed of the issue of blood. He wanted to hear the woman’s testimony.)
Perhaps, the woman’s testimony fortified Jairus’ faith at that time. Jesus could have stopped here just for that purpose too.
(Mark 5:36 AMPC) Overhearing but ignoring what they said, Jesus said to the ruler of the synagogue, Do not be seized with alarm and struck with fear; only keep on believing.
Jesus wasn’t disturbed at all by the news delivered to Jairus. Matter of fact, He just ignored the news. This is His answer to news that was contrary to what He knew He was going to do.
The problem had escalated to the point where the daughter was now dead. We see the example of what to do when this happens. Simply do not respond but keep believing what the Word says.
You will have opportunities to receive news of an escalation of your situation, but when you hear it, just ignore it and keep believing.
Notice, Jesus did not berate the messenger. He addressed the message, not the messenger by saying, “Do not be seized with alarm and struck with fear.” The opportunity to feel panic and alarm comes to all of us. Just because you feel it at that moment, don’t give in to that feeling. Jesus because you feel the fear, does not mean that the Word is not working, and faith is not present.
(Psalms 23:5 NKJV) You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies…
The enemy might be present, but just because he is present does not men you are not winning, and the Word is not working.
Jesus told Jairus how to handle fear: “don’t let it in”.
The difference between winning and losing is to not yield to fear and keep on believing what you already released your faith to receive (Mark 5:23).
Jesus told Jairus to keep believing the same thing he started with even when the contrary news came to them. Don’t change what you believe just because your circumstances have changed.
The miracle depended more on what Jairus believed than what Jesus believed because it was Jairus’ faith that was going to give Jesus the permission to come into his house and raise his daughter up.
When someone brings a bad report, it matters more about what you believe and say than what they believe and say.
Notice Jesus did not try and straighten out what the messenger said in his “bad confession”. He ignored it. We don’t have to try and straighten out everyone else’s words, just what we are speaking.
(Mark 5:37 NKJV) And He permitted no one to follow Him except Peter, James, and John the brother of James.
Jesus is life but it mattered who He let into that environment. Not everyone in the crowd is in faith. He knew who would be in faith with Him and that is who He wanted in the house.
Jesus takes Peter, James, and John with Him. He does not have favorites. He is training them based on their assignments for when He is gone.
When you are advancing, you must know who will be in faith and advance with you!
(Mark 5:38 AMPC) When they arrived at the house of the ruler of the synagogue, He looked [carefully and with understanding] at [the] tumult and the people weeping and wailing loudly.
(Mark 5:39 AMPC) And when He had gone in, He said to them, Why do you make an uproar and weep? The little girl is not dead but is sleeping.
Jesus spoke His faith and what the end result was going to be. This was not a hard thing to God at all. It was a simple to Him as waking someone up from natural sleep.
(Mark 5:40 AMPC) And they laughed and jeered at Him. But He put them all out, and, taking the child’s father and mother and those who were with Him, He went in where the little girl was lying.
How quickly they can change their emotions!
If you are not going to believe, there are things that you just won’t be able to see. Only those who believe will see Him move.
Jesus took those with authority over this little girl into the room with Him.
(Mark 5:41 AMPC) Gripping her [firmly] by the hand, He said to her, Talitha cumi–which translated is, Little girl, I say to you, arise [from the sleep of death]!
Jesus did not rebuke a devil. He spoke life!
(Mark 5:42 AMPC) And instantly the girl got up and started walking around–for she was twelve years old. And they were utterly astonished and overcome with amazement.
The daughter was raised up AND healed at that moment. If she had not been healed, she would have died again.
(Mark 5:43 AMPC) And He strictly commanded and warned them that no one should know this, and He [expressly] told them to give her [something] to eat.
