The Healings of Jesus – 14

The Healings of Jesus – Part 14
The Healing of the Paralyzed Man

(John 21:25 AMPC) And there are also many other things which Jesus did. If they should be all recorded one by one [in detail], I suppose that even the world itself could not contain (have room for) the books that would be written.

There were innumerable healings and miracles performed by Jesus, but we do not have record of them all. We do have record of 19 of them and because the Holy Spirit instructed those men to record them for us, we should take the time to study them.

In studying these healings, we can learn that if we will do what the people did, we can receive what the people got. (Acts 10:34)

For this reason, we are looking at the details of each case.

Remember, pay attention to the details. Sometimes the key for you to be able to receive from Heaven is in the details.

In studying these healing miracles, we can learn how to receive healing for ourselves and learn how to minister healing to others.

This is a summary of the ministry of Jesus: He went about teaching, preaching, and healing.

(Matthew 4:23 NKJV) And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people.

(Matthew 9:35 NKJV) Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.

We want to emphasize what Jesus emphasized!

These truths belong to us!

Preaching is a proclaiming of the Good News and is designed to draw the attention of people. Teaching brings people into knowledge and revelation of what belongs to us as believers.

  • We need to hear proper teaching on healing so that we can cooperate with the healing power of God.
  • What you hear, is going to be what you have faith to receive.
  • Jesus wants you to have a life of health and healing and to walk in it, you must know something about it and be skilled in what you know.
  • As you hear these things being taught, you can receive your healing!

(Luke 5:17-26 AMPC) One of those days, as He was teaching, there were Pharisees and teachers of the Law sitting by, who had come from every village and town of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was [present] with Him to heal them. (18) And behold, some men were bringing on a stretcher a man who was paralyzed, and they tried to carry him in and lay him before [Jesus]. (19) But finding no way to bring him in because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him with his stretcher through the tiles into the midst, in front of Jesus. (20) And when He saw [their confidence in Him, springing from] their faith, He said, Man, your sins are forgiven you! (21) And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason and question and argue, saying, Who is this [Man] Who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone? (22) But Jesus, knowing their thoughts and questionings, answered them, Why do you question in your hearts? (23) Which is easier: to say, Your sins are forgiven you, or to say, Arise and walk [about]? (24) But that you may know that the Son of Man has the [power of] authority and right on earth to forgive sins, He said to the paralyzed man, I say to you, arise, pick up your litter (stretcher), and go to your own house! (25) And instantly [the man] stood up before them and picked up what he had been lying on and went away to his house, recognizing and praising and thanking God. (26) And overwhelming astonishment and ecstasy seized them all, and they recognized and praised and thanked God; and they were filled with and controlled by reverential fear and kept saying, We have seen wonderful and strange and incredible and unthinkable things today!

This is definitely not a common occurrence!

(Luke 5:17 AMPC) One of those days, as He was teaching, there were Pharisees and teachers of the Law sitting by, who had come from every village and town of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was [present] with Him to heal them.

Jesus was teaching and there were religious leaders sitting in the room. This was a regional ministers meeting that Jesus was teaching at.

“And the power of the Lord was [present] with Him to heal them.”

The power of God was present for ALL of them. The power of God was not being selective then and it is not selective now.

Since the power of the Lord was present to heal them, we know that Jesus must have been teaching on healing.

What an anointed minister teaches, the power of God becomes available to produce what is being taught.

(Mark 16:20 NKJV) And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.

In Bible School, Bro. Hagin used to tell us that if we want something in our churches, we needed to teach on it. If you want healings in your church, then you must teach on healing. If you want the Gifts of the Spirit in your church, then you need to teach on the Gifts of the Spirit. These things will come into manifestation if the people will believe what is taught.

As we have said before, what we teach on is what people will have faith for. (Romans 10:17)

As believers, we will not receive from the power of God just because we are sitting in the room where it is present. We must release our faith for it. The people have a role to play in the service just like the one ministering the Word of God.

Jesus said to Brother Hagin, when He was on the earth, He was the manifestation of the power of God. Throughout the Old Testament, the power of God was not available to the general public. It was contained within the Holy of Holies in the Tabernacle and only the Hight Priest could access it once a year.

After Jesus was anointed by the Holy Ghost after His baptism, then the power of God was manifested through Him in the earth. Jesus set aside everything that made Him the divine Son of God and became a man anointed by the Holy Spirit, to model how we as believers could live and function in the earth.

For the first time in human history, the manifested power of God was out mingling among the people.

Now that the Holy Ghost has been poured out, the power of God is now poured out in mass in the earth. The Holy Spirit is everywhere! That is why someone can be saved anywhere they happen to be and believe the Gospel.

The Holy Spirit has not always been present in the earth as He is today.

The power of God is present everywhere and available to everyone! There is enough healing power present in every hospital room, every cancer clinic, everywhere there is a need. But one must know that it is present and believe and cooperate with it.

You receive and cooperate with it by your words and actions.

(Luke 5:18-19 AMPC) And behold, some men were bringing on a stretcher a man who was paralyzed, and they tried to carry him in and lay him before [Jesus]. (19) But finding no way to bring him in because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him with his stretcher through the tiles into the midst, in front of Jesus.

There was a lot of people present there that day.

When there was no access, they made an access to Jesus. They would not be denied.

How bad do you want your healing?

This shows how determined they were for this man to receive his healing. He had faith friends that were willing to do whatever it takes for the man to receive his healing.

If you don’t have any faith friends in your life, you need to get some.

Faith will do what is not convenient!

Faith does not look for the easy way out. It perseveres until it receives what is desired.

(Luke 5:20 AMPC) And when He saw [their confidence in Him, springing from] their faith, He said, Man, your sins are forgiven you!

He saw their faith. Faith is a spiritual force that is resident in your spirit. How then did Jesus SEE their faith? Through their actions.

People can know where your faith is by listening to you talk and watching your actions.

How do we show Jesus our faith? By what we say and what we do.

Jesus spoke something to the man. He said, “Man, your sins are forgiven you!”

Perhaps the man’s sin is what opened the door for the man’s condition or perhaps his past was keeping him from being able to receive his healing. Nevertheless, Jesus addressed sin and eliminated it from keeping the man sick.

(Luke 5:21-23 AMPC) And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason and question and argue, saying, Who is this [Man] Who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone? (22) But Jesus, knowing their thoughts and questionings, answered them, Why do you question in your hearts? (23) Which is easier: to say, Your sins are forgiven you, or to say, Arise and walk [about]?

Notice, Jesus did not say, “Which is harder to say…” He specifically used the word “easy” because healing is an easy thing for Him. Forgiveness is an easy thing for Him.

Just because it may be hard for us does not mean it is a hard thing for Him.

It is just as easy for God to heal as it is for God to forgive.

(Luke 5:24 AMPC) But that you may know that the Son of Man has the [power of] authority and right on earth to forgive sins, He said to the paralyzed man, I say to you, arise, pick up your litter (stretcher), and go to your own house!

If you were there that day, you would not have been able to visibly see that the man was forgiven but you surely would have been able to see that he was healed. Therefore, he was raised up to prove that he was forgiven.

Jesus did not pray for the man or lay hands on the man. He gave the man something to obey.

Miracles begin with obeying the Word Jesus has given you.

Obedience DOES NOT earn your miracle or healing. Obedience POSITIONS you for your healing or miracle.

When he obeyed what Jesus told him to do, the healing power of God met him at his doing.

(Luke 5:25-26 AMPC) And instantly [the man] stood up before them and picked up what he had been lying on and went away to his house, recognizing and praising and thanking God. (26) And overwhelming astonishment and ecstasy seized them all, and they recognized and praised and thanked God; and they were filled with and controlled by reverential fear and kept saying, We have seen wonderful and strange and incredible and unthinkable things today!

No one else was healed that day but they could have been. Yet, they were filled with astonishment at what had happened to the one man.

This man’s healing had an impact on the other people present there that day.
