Breakthrough – 2020 – Part 3

What are you believing for yourself and your family for 2020?

Seven Areas of Breakthrough This Year:

  1. Faith – your personal walk with God
  2. Family – marriage, with children
  3. Finances – managing our money, etc.
  4. Freedom – areas of our lives that we have strongholds
  5. Fun – we need to enjoy life (Satan did not create fun, he just perverted it.)
  6. Field of endeavor (job or vocation)
  7. Friendships (social relationships)

A Breakthrough will come for you as hear and obey the voice of God!

You don’t need to have a burning bush experience to hear from God.

We are going to talk about four basic ways to hear from God:

  1. His Word

God reveals Himself to us through His Word.

God wrote His own autobiography. If you want to know Him it is in His book.

Hearing from God is not a formula; it is about a relationship.

The Bible tells us how He walks, how He talks, how He thinks, how He acts, His character, His personality, His behavior; the Bible tells us all of that.

If you want to hear God, then you are going to have to get to know God and the primary way that we do that is through His Word.

Psalms 138:2 AMPC  I will worship toward Your holy temple and praise Your name for Your loving-kindness and for Your truth and faithfulness; for You have exalted above all else Your name and Your word and You have magnified Your word above all Your name!

Ephesians 1:16-17 TPT  my heart is always full and overflowing with thanks to God for you as I constantly remember you in my prayers.  (17)  I pray that the Father of glory, the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, would impart to you the riches of the Spirit of wisdom and the Spirit of revelation to know him through your deepening intimacy with him.

You will never learn to hear from God without getting into His Word.

  1. His Voice

God still speaks to His people today.

He will speak to you in your spirit. He lives there.

John 10:3-5 TPT  and because the gatekeeper knows who he is, he opens the gate to let him in. And the sheep recognize the voice of the true Shepherd, for he calls his own by name and leads them out, for they belong to him.  (4)  And when he has brought out all his sheep, he walks ahead of them and they will follow him, for they are familiar with his voice.  (5)  But they will run away from strangers and never follow them because they know it’s the voice of a stranger.”

John 10:27 TPT  My own sheep will hear my voice and I know each one, and they will follow me.

His voice will be down on the inside of you and will always be in line with His Word.

(Give the illustration of when my mother calls me on the phone, I do not have to ask, “Who is this?” because I have spent enough time with her that I know her voice.)

It is really as simple as this: if you want to hear God’s voice clearly, spend more time with Him.

  1. His Counsel

Psalms 1:1 NKJV (1)  Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;

Proverbs 11:14 NKJV (14)  Where there is no counsel, the people fall; But in the multitude of counselors there is safety.

Proverbs 12:15 NKJV (15)  The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, But he who heeds counsel is wise.

Proverbs 15:22 NKJV (22)  Without counsel, plans go awry, But in the multitude of counselors they are established.

Proverbs 19:20 NKJV (20)  Listen to counsel and receive instruction, That you may be wise in your latter days.

Counsel should always be in line with the Word of God.

God sends people into our lives to help bring us counsel from Him to help us.

Many people ask for counsel but few heed it.

Give the example of Rehoboam seeking counsel about how to rule the nation of Israel. His elders told him to serve the people and the people will serve you. He still went to his friends and asked for their counsel and they told him to tell the people, “If you think my Father Solomon’s rule was tough, my little finger carries more weight than His whole kingdom…” The people of the north said we want no part in that and the kingdom was split and Jeroboam ruled the north. (1 Kings 12:6-14)

  1. His Peace

Colossians 3:15 NKJV And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.

Colossians 3:15 TPT  Let your heart be always guided by the peace of the Anointed One, who called you to peace as part of his one body. And always be thankful.

Colossians 3:15 GNB The peace that Christ gives is to guide you in the decisions you make; for it is to this peace that God has called you together in the one body. And be thankful.

When you are making a decision, pursue after peace in your heart and allow it to rule or determine the final decisions of your life.

Peace in your heart is God speaking to you.

If you lose peace, STOP!

If you have lost your peace, go back to where you last had peace and start again. Peace is waiting on you at that point.

These are the ways to become more spiritually sensitive:

  1. Meditate in the Word of God.

Joshua 1:8 NLT  Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.

  1. Practice the Word of God.

James 1:22 NLT  But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.

John 14:21 TPT  Those who truly love me are those who obey my commands. Whoever passionately loves me will be passionately loved by my Father. And I will passionately love you in return and will manifest my life within you.”

  1. Give the Word of God first place.

Proverbs 4:20-22 NKJV  My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings.  (21)  Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart;  (22)  For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh.

  1. Instantly obey the voice of your spirit (your conscience).

Galatians 6:5 TPT  Every believer is ultimately responsible for his or her own conscience.

  1. Spend time praying in other tongues.

1 Corinthians 14:2 NKJV  For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.
