  • Heaven on Earth – Part 1

(Matthew 1:18-25 NKJV)  Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit.  (19) Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. (20) But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.  (21) And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins.” (22) So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: (23) “BEHOLD, THE VIRGIN SHALL BE WITH CHILD, AND BEAR A SON, AND THEY SHALL CALL HIS NAME IMMANUEL,” which is translated, “God with us.” (24)  Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife, (25) and did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son. And he called His name JESUS.

Jesus was born as a manifestation of God being present with His people; “They shall call His Name Immanuel.”

    • Jesus came to give us some of Heaven on Earth.

Deuteronomy 11:18-21 (KJV)  Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes.  [19] And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.  [20] And thou shalt write them upon the door posts of thine house, and upon thy gates: [21] That your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven upon the earth.

The Great Preacher Charles Spurgeon said in a sermon on these verses:

“AS this text was originally written, it referred only to the length of life and the length of endurance which God promised to His obedient Israel. If they walked in His statutes, the kingdom was to abide from generation to generation, without end, “as the days of heaven upon earth.” But it seems to me that such a phrase as this ought to mean something more, if it did not, and might be used to express—and must be used to express many of those happy seasons which we have enjoyed when the Lord has manifested Himself to us—and which have been to us “as the days of heaven upon the earth.” But is not the expression exaggeration? Is it not too strong? Brothers and sisters, I think not. There were days of heaven upon earth once. Every day upon earth was a day of heaven before our first parent stretched out his hand and broke his Lord’s command. When he walked through the Garden of Eden, by the side of the rippling Hiddekel, or the streaming Euphrates, which rolled over sands of gold. As he reclined under the shadow of the trees from the heat of the sun, and plucked the generous fruit, God was with him as his companion and manifested Himself to His favorite creature. Those were, indeed, days of heaven upon earth! There was no strife, no sin, no sorrow—everything was happy! There were days of heaven upon earth—and we know from the sweetest prophecies, as sure as they are sweet, that there will be days of heaven upon earth again, and that for a continuance!”

    • Jesus preached about Heaven on Earth:

(Mark 1:14-15 NKJV)  Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,  (15) and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.”

    • Jesus even prayed about Heaven on Earth:

(Matthew 6:10 NKJV)  Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.

    • Jesus lived out of that Heavenly realm.

(John 6:38 NKJV)  For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.

    Some Heavenly Gifts
    • Jesus came to give us life, just as there is life in Heaven.

(John 5:26 NKJV)  For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself,

Life (Greek:Zoe) – life in the absolute sense, life as God has it, that which the Father has in Himself, and which He gave to the Incarnate Son to have in Himself

(John 3:16 NKJV)  For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

(John 10:10 AMPC)  The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).

    • Jesus came to give us peace, just as there is peace in Heaven.

(John 14:27 NKJV)  Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

(John 16:33 NKJV)  These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

    • Jesus came to give us healing, just as there is healing in Heaven.

(Matthew 9:35 NKJV)  Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.

    • Jesus wants us to have the supernatural provision of Heaven on the earth now!

(Philippians 4:19 AMPC)  And my God will liberally supply (fill to the full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

    Where Do We Begin?

Days of heaven on the earth! Days of supernatural provision on the earth! Days of increase on the earth! All this awaits us when we honor God and keep His ways. God has always wanted a people who would hear and do what He says, so He could manifest Himself and give us days of heaven on earth.”

    • The first thing we have to do is begin to set our thinking on heavenly things.

(Colossians 3:1-2 AMPC)  IF THEN you have been raised with Christ [to a new life, thus sharing His resurrection from the dead], aim at and seek the [rich, eternal treasures] that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. [Psa 110:1]  (2) And set your minds and keep them set on what is above (the higher things), not on the things that are on the earth.

(Colossians 3:2 MSG)  Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from his perspective.

  • Have Yourself A “Mary” Christmas

    Have Yourself A “Mary” Christmas

    • God has a plan or a dream for every person.

(Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV) For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

(Jeremiah 29:11 GNB) I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for.

(Isaiah 55:8-11 NKJV) “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. (9) “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts. (10) “For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater, (11) So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

(Ephesians 3:20 AMP) Now to Him Who, by (in consequence of) the [action of His] power that is at work within us, is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams]–

    • God’s plans for us are not automatic. They require a working partnership.

(1 Corinthians 3:9 AMP) For we are fellow workmen (joint promoters, laborers together) with and for God…

(2 Corinthians 6:1 NLT) As God’s partners, we beg you not to accept this marvelous gift of God’s kindness and then ignore it.

    • Faith is required for God’s plan for our lives to come to pass.

(Hebrews 11:6 MSG) It’s impossible to please God apart from faith. And why? Because anyone who wants to approach God must believe both that he exists and that he cares enough to respond to those who seek him.

Terri Savelle Foy says: “There are two kinds of people: those who let fear run their lives and those that let faith lead them to their dreams.”

(Luke 1:26-37 NLT) In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a village in Galilee, (27) to a virgin named Mary. She was engaged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of King David. (28) Gabriel appeared to her and said, “Greetings, favored woman! The Lord is with you! [Blessed are you among women.]” (29) Confused and disturbed, Mary tried to think what the angel could mean. (30) “Don’t be afraid, Mary,” the angel told her, “for you have found favor with God! (31) You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name Him Jesus. (32) He will be very great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give Him the throne of His ancestor David. (33) And He will reign over Israel forever; His Kingdom will never end!” (34) Mary asked the angel, “But how can this happen? I am a virgin.” (35) The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the baby to be born will be holy, and He will be called the Son of God. (36) What’s more, your relative Elizabeth has become pregnant in her old age! People used to say she was barren, but she’s now in her sixth month. (37) For nothing is impossible with God. ” (38) Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.” And then the angel left her.

    1. Believe and receive the promise in your heart.

The promise was not conceived when the Word was heard. Conception took place when Mary took ownership of the Word and it became hers.

(Luke 1:39-45 NLT) A few days later Mary hurried to the hill country of Judea, to the town (40) where Zechariah lived. She entered the house and greeted Elizabeth. (41) At the sound of Mary’s greeting, Elizabeth’s child leaped within her, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. (42) Elizabeth gave a glad cry and exclaimed to Mary, “God has blessed you above all women, and your child is blessed. (43) Why am I so honored, that the mother of my Lord should visit me? (44) When I heard your greeting, the baby in my womb jumped for joy. (45) You are blessed because you believed that the Lord would do what He said.”

This was Elizabeth’s response to Mary.

    1. Find someone who can agree and believe in the promise with you.

Don’t ever underestimate the power of agreement.

(Matthew 18:19 NKJV) “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.

(Luke 1:46-51 NLT) Mary responded, “Oh, how my soul praises the Lord. (47) How my spirit rejoices in God my Savior! (48) For He took notice of His lowly servant girl, and from now on all generations will call me blessed. (49) For the Mighty One is holy, and He has done great things for me. (50) He shows mercy from generation to generation to all who fear Him. (51) His mighty arm has done tremendous things!

    1. Praise and thank God as though you already have the promise and it is yours now.

(Luke 2:4-7 NLT) And because Joseph was a descendant of King David, he had to go to Bethlehem in Judea, David’s ancient home. He traveled there from the village of Nazareth in Galilee. (5) He took with him Mary, his fiancée, who was now obviously pregnant. (6) And while they were there, the time came for her baby to be born. (7) She gave birth to her first child, a son. She wrapped Him snugly in strips of cloth and laid Him in a manger, because there was no lodging available for them.

    1. Be patient and allow God to bring the promise to pass when the right time or the best time has arrived.

God knows the exact time that the manifestation needs to show up for the things that you are believing Him to receive.

(Galatians 4:4 NKJV) But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law,

(Hebrews 6:12 NKJV) that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

(Hebrews 6:12 MSG) Don’t drag your feet. Be like those who stay the course with committed faith and then get everything promised to them.

You cannot always look at the circumstances of your life to determine the right time to receive the promise. There will never be a “perfect” time in the natural.

If you do these things, then God has declared that the promise is yours and you can enter into that good life that He has already planned for you.

  • The Light Has Come – Part-2

Isaiah 60:1-2 AMP ARISE [from the depression and prostration in which circumstances have kept you–rise to a new life]! Shine (be radiant with the glory of the Lord), for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you! [Zech. 8:23.] (2) For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and dense darkness [all] peoples, but the Lord shall arise upon you [O Jerusalem], and His glory shall be seen on you. [Isa. 60:19-22; Mal. 4:2; Rev. 21:2, 3.]

Luke 1:26-38 NKJV Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, (27) to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. (28) And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!” (29) But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was. (30) Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. (31) And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name JESUS. (32) He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. (33) And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.” (34) Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?” (35) And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. (36) Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren. (37) For with God nothing will be impossible.” (38) Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.

Luke 2:1-20 NKJV And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. (2) This census first took place while Quirinius was governing Syria. (3) So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city. (4) Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, (5) to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. (6) So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. (7) And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. (8) Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. (9) And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. (10) Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. (11) For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. (12) And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.” (13) And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: (14) “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” (15) So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, “Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.” (16) And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger. (17) Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child. (18) And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds. (19) But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart. (20) Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them.

    1.   In the heart of God, His plan for my life is no less important to Him than His plan of Redemption.

Jeremiah 29:11 NIV For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Psalms 138:8a NLT The LORD will work out His plans for my life–for Your faithful love, O LORD, endures forever…

1 Thessalonians 5:24 MSG (24) The One who called you is completely dependable. If he said it, he’ll do it!

    2.   If God’s plan of Redemption required the cooperation of Heaven and man, then so must His plan for my life.

Isaiah 46:11 NKJV Indeed I have spoken it; I will also bring it to pass. I have purposed it; I will also do it.

    However, It is not automatic.

1 Corinthians 3:9 AMP For we are fellow workmen (joint promoters, laborers together) with and for God; you are God’s garden and vineyard and field under cultivation, [you are] God’s building. [Isa. 61:3.]

    3.   Faith is required for God’s plan for me to come to pass.

Hebrews 11:6 NKJV But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Hebrews 4:2 AMP For indeed we have had the glad tidings [Gospel of God] proclaimed to us just as truly as they [the Israelites of old did when the good news of deliverance from bondage came to them]; but the message they heard did not benefit them, because it was not mixed with faith (with the leaning of the entire personality on God in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness) by those who heard it; neither were they united in faith with the ones [Joshua and Caleb] who heard (did believe).

    4.   Take ownership of God’s promise for your life.

The promise was not conceived when the Word was heard.

Conception took place when Mary took ownership of the Word and made it hers.

Luke 1:38 NLT Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.” And then the angel left her.

The dictionary says that ownership is the act of possessing something.

Taking ownership of God’s Word is the key to releasing the supernatural power of God into our lives to accomplish the purpose and will of God. Ownership is thankful.

  • The Light Has Come – Part-1

Isaiah 9:6 NKJV For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:2 NKJV The people who walked in darkness Have seen a great light; Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, Upon them a light has shined.

4:2; Rev. 21:2, 3.]

There is a darkness that the world is living in and God’s Word says that the darkness is not getting any brighter.

The shame of it is that there are Christians that are living in darkness that really don’t have to. We can all live in the light because the Light has come.

Great Book – Kill the Spider by Carlos Whitaker

All bad behavior, habits, depression, addictions, etc. are all based on lies that we have believed along the way that have gotten rooted in our hearts. Cleaning the cobwebs out of the corners may seem to help for a time but oddly enough, the cobwebs keep showing back up. Why? Because we are not dealing with the problem – we are not killing the spider.

As I have looked over my life, when there is something that I have not been able to get absolute freedom over, it is because I have not dealt with the root of the issue.

I believe these things dwell in areas where there is some darkness, rooted in lies – that does not have to be there.

How do the lies that we are believing get there?

    WHO ARE YOU BELIEVING?
    • The devil will lie to you.

John 8:44b NIV When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Psalms 13:2 NIV How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and day after day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me?

    • The world will pollute you.

Ephesians 4:17-18 NIV So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God…

    • Your circumstances will confuse you.

Psalms 10:1 NIV Why, LORD, do you stand far off? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?

Psalms 10:17 NIV You, LORD, hear the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry,

    • People’s words that you believe can bind you.

Proverbs 18:21 NLT The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.

    • What we dwell on and think about, we become.

Proverbs 23:7a NKJV (7) For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.

SHINE THE LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS

So, how do we overcome the lies? How do we overcome the darkness? Shine the light on it!

    1. Ask God to show you where there is darkness in your life.

In other words, what are the lies that I have believed?

John 12:46 NIV I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.

John 16:13 NIV But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.

    1. Repent from believing the lies.

The word “repent” in the New Testament comes from the Greek word “metagnoeo” and it means to change your mind.

In our thinking we must make a complete turn in the opposite direction to change what we have believed.

Romans 12:2 NLT Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

    1. Let the light of the truth of God’s Word drive out the darkness.
    • Find out what God’s Word says that is contrary to the lies.
    • Write those verses down and begin to declare them over you.
    • Spend time thinking about them and focusing your attention on them.
    • Remember, it is a process, not an overnight fix.

John 1:1-5 NIV In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (2) He was with God in the beginning. (3) Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. (4) In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. (5) The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

  • The Reality of the Nativity

The reason that Jesus came to earth was not to be born, but was to die.

1 John 3:8 AMP (8)  [But] he who commits sin [who practices evildoing] is of the devil [takes his character from the evil one], for the devil has sinned (violated the divine law) from the beginning. The reason the Son of God was made manifest (visible) was to undo (destroy, loosen, and dissolve) the works the devil [has done].

We want to look at the Word of God so that we can understand the Nativity Scene and why things were the way they were.

Why did the circumstances have to be like they were surrounding the Birth of Christ?

The circumstances surrounding the Birth of Christ are very important simply because they all are fulfillment of what the Lord had been saying for centuries.

Why did Jesus have to born in Bethlehem?

Micah 5:2 NKJV (2)  “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting.”

It was also said that Jesus would be of the offspring of King David and Bethlehem is where David was born and God chose for Jesus to be born there as well.

Note that for Jesus to sit on the throne He would have to be human but for Him to reign forever, He would have to be Divine. Both Mary and Joseph were of the lineage of David.

Jeremiah 23:5 NKJV (5)  “Behold, the days are coming,” says the LORD, “That I will raise to David a Branch of righteousness; A King shall reign and prosper, And execute judgment and righteousness in the earth.

God took advantage of the census that was required to get Joseph and Mary back to Bethlehem.

We know the story how the angel appeared to Mary to tell her about the Birth of Jesus.

Mary was betrothed to Joseph and during that day betrothal was much more serious than our engagement in that the only way to get out of that commitment was to be caught in a relationship outside of the betrothed relationship.

Matthew’s explanation can best be understood in the light of Hebrew marriage customs. Marriages were arranged for individuals by parents, and contracts were negotiated. After this was accomplished, the individuals were considered married and were called husband and wife. They did not, however, begin to live together. Instead, the woman continued to live with her parents and the man with his for one year. The waiting period was to demonstrate the faithfulness of the pledge of purity given concerning the bride. If she was found to be with child in this period, she obviously was not pure, but had been involved in an unfaithful sexual relationship. Therefore the marriage could be annulled. If, however, the one-year waiting period demonstrated the purity of the bride, the husband would then go to the house of the bride’s parents and in a grand processional march lead his bride back to his home. There they would begin to live together as husband and wife and consummate their marriage physically.

Mary and Joseph were in the one-year waiting period when Mary was found to be with child. They had never had sexual intercourse and Mary herself had been faithful (Mat_1:20, Mat_1:23). While little is said about Joseph, one can imagine how his heart must have broken. He genuinely loved Mary, and yet the word came that she was pregnant. His love for her was demonstrated by his actions. He chose not to create a public scandal by exposing her condition to the judges at the city gate. Such an act could have resulted in Mary’s death by stoning (Deu_22:23-24). Instead he decided to divorce her quietly.

The character of Joseph came out that even before the angel appeared to him, he was not going to embarrass her publicly but he thought about how he could put her away privately.

Did Mary ride a donkey when they came into Bethlehem?

Luke 2:4-6 NKJV (4)  Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, (5)  to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child.

When Mary and Joseph arrived in Bethlehem she was great with child. Because of this, Joseph probably did not make her walk.

She probably did ride in on a donkey into Bethlehem. They did not have a lot of money at this time and the donkey was the cheapest form of transportation of the day.

Did Mary give birth to Jesus the same night that they arrived in Bethlehem?

Luke 2:6 NKJV (6)  So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered.

Mary had the baby after they had been in Bethlehem for a few days.

Did the innkeeper tell them that there was no room for them in the inn?

Luke 2:7 NKJV (7)  And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

It was actually probably a blessing that there was no room for them in the inn because in that day, inns were very dangerous places where you could be robbed of your belongings, etc.

God opened a supernatural door that afforded Mary and Joseph privacy in the birth of Christ.

Was Jesus actually born in a stable?

Luke 2:7 NKJV (7)  And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

Notice the scripture says that Jesus was wrapped in swaddling clothes and laid in a manger.

It is possible that the animals were kept in a cave behind or near the house versus a traditional stable as we know today.

In that day, a manger was a feeding trough usually hewn out of rock and the height of it was dependent on the type of animals that would be feeding from it.

Swaddling clothes were strips of cloth that they would wrap the baby in very tightly to keep it warm and feeling secure.

Isn’t it interesting that when Jesus was born he was wrapped in strips of cloth and laid in a stone manger in a cave and that is also the way that He was buried when He died for all mankind.

Another reason that Jesus was not born in the inn was because it was the plan of God that the shepherds come and find Jesus and they might not have been able to do this at an inn.

Were angels present at the place where Jesus was born?

The answer is yes, but they were not in manifestation there. They appeared to the shepherds in the fields.

Luke 2:8-9 NKJV (8)  Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. (9)  And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid.

Luke 2:13 NKJV (13)  And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:

Why did the angels appear to the shepherds and not the Magi?

Jesus did not come to be a King first, He came to be a Shepherd first and to lead us into everlasting life.

Were the shepherds supernaturally led to the place of Jesus’ birth?

Luke 2:11-12 NKJV (11)  For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. (12)  And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”

Luke 2:15-16 NKJV (15)  So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, “Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.” (16)  And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger.

The shepherds found the place where Jesus was because they knew where all of the mangers would have been because they were shepherds.

The wise men were supernaturally led to the manger because they were not from there but the shepherds were from there.

Did the wise men come at Jesus birth?

Luke 2:12 NKJV (12)  And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”

Babe (v12) – (Greek – brephos) unborn child or a newborn child.

Matthew 2:11 NKJV (11)  And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

Young Child (Matthew 2:8) (Greek: paidion) a little child, not a newborn

Wise men or Magi travelled in large caravans of sometimes 50 to 75 people so there were more than just three of them.

The Magi brought to Him treasures of gold, frankincense and myrrh; gold because that was the treasury of royalty, frankincense because He was going to be the sweet-smelling savor in God’s nostrils to hide the stench of our sin, and myrrh because that is one of the spices used in burial. He was going to have to die for us.

Was Jesus born on December 25th?

The answer is no, He was not.

Luke 2:8 NKJV (8)  Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night.

In December in Bethlehem, it can get quite cold.

Bethlehem is along the same latitude as Macon, GA.

Winters in Israel and particularly Bethlehem can be very cold average highs being 33° – 55°.

Why was Jesus born at all?

Luke 2:10-11 NKJV (10)  Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. (11)  For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

Isaiah 9:6 NKJV (6)  For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Jesus was born as a gift for all mankind but you must still receive Him personally.

Jesus came to bring peace for us individually first and then later will bring peace to the earth.

Luke 2:14 AMP (14)  Glory to God in the highest [heaven], and on earth peace among men with whom He is well pleased [men of goodwill, of His favor].

    1. God’s plan for my life individually is no less important than His plan that caused Jesus to be born into the earth.
    2. If God’s plan required the cooperation of Heaven and man, then so must His plan for my life. It is not automatic.

1 Corinthians 3:9 AMP For we are fellow workmen (joint promoters, laborers together) with and for God; you are God’s garden and vineyard and field under cultivation, [you are] God’s building. [Isa. 61:3.]

    1. Faith is required for God’s plan to come to pass.
    2. The promise was not conceived when the Word was heard. Conception took place when she took ownership of the Word and made it hers.

Luke 1:38 NIV “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.

Luke 1:38 NLT Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.” And then the angel left her.

Saying, “Be it unto me according to thy Word” is the key to releasing the supernatural power of God into our lives to accomplish the purpose and will of God.
